How is it calculated?
Add up the nameplate power, convert watts to VA by dividing by the power factor, then add roughly 20–25% headroom. For three phases, kVA = √3 × line voltage × line current ÷ 1000. For single phase, kVA = voltage × current ÷ 1000.

Frequently Asked Questions
01Does this tool give an exact result?
No. It provides a first kVA estimate from the values you enter. Motor starting currents, harmonics and ambient conditions may need additional assessment; contact our technical team for exact sizing.
02What if I do not know the power factor?
In practice 0.8 is used. If your load is mostly motors and inductive devices, the real value may differ.
03Why is headroom added?
Roughly 20–25% headroom is left for starting currents, future loads and increased current at low input voltage.
What to watch by load type
The calculated value is a first estimate. The loads below need additional evaluation.
Motors and compressors
They can draw several times their rated current at start-up. Starting current and start frequency should be included in sizing.
Drives and UPS units
They produce harmonics; the regulator design and rating are evaluated separately for these loads.
Lighting
LED drivers and discharge lamps can draw high inrush current when switched on.
Heaters and resistors
Their power factor is close to 1, so the watt value is almost equal to the VA value.
Sensitive electronics and medical devices
Voltage sensitivity and safety needs may call for a combined solution including isolation.
What we manufacture
Project-specific solutions across our core product groups.
Servo Voltage Regulator
Servo-motor-controlled voltage regulator that stabilizes voltage smoothly and with high precision.
Static Voltage Regulator
Electronically switched regulator with no moving parts, correcting voltage within milliseconds.
Autotransformer
Single-winding transformer that raises or lowers voltage economically and efficiently.
Isolation Transformer
Transformer with electrically separate windings, providing safety and noise filtering.
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
